We had our wedding at Newlands Golf Course in Surrey. Overall, the wedding was fantastic and the venue was gorgeous! We had our wedding the Sunday of a long weekend so it was a little cheaper. The staff at Newlands were very nice, but they did make a serious blunder. They forgot to serve the wedding cake!!!! We were stuck with the whole cake after the wedding and they refused to compesate us for their mistake! Also, after the wedding, they never touched based with us at all. We never even received our final receipt.
All that being said, we actually really enjoyed our wedding at Newlands and the cake was not all that missed since there were such nice desserts included in the buffet. I recommend it, but just keep an eye on that cake!
We had our traditionl Hindu ceremony at UBC’s Cecil Green Park House last summer. Needless to say the venue was gorgeous. If you want an intimate wedding, in a spectacular setting outdoors, this is the place to have it. The catering by UBC (yes, they can do Indian dishes!) was great and the scenery was beautiful and perfect for photographs. However, if you want to get this venue, you have to book early. UBC alumni get first cracks at renting it – 18 months before your event. And booking is done online via the website. Good luck!
